I really like this activity because it gave me a taste of what kids go through everyday that have disabilities. I had the earplugs and it simulated me not being able to hear (being deaf). When Mrs. Frierman would give directions, I could barely hear them. I would be so confused because I wouldn't get the whole jist of everything she was saying. So I had to follow everybody and just do what they were doing. If I was deaf, I would have so many headaches and would probably be addicted to aspirin because of the constant confusion I would have. I don't know how deaf people get by from day to day.

One take away I had from this week was when Mrs. Gresham came in and talked to us about special education. I felt like she have me a better in depth understanding of what classifies people as special Ed. My younger brother Joey has disgraphia and dyslexia. The fact that she touched on these gave me a personal feel to the presentation. I would very much like to have her come back in and talk soon!
My groups puppet show was actually a skit and I feel like the kids at Cooke Elementary enjoyed it a lot. Many kids, in fact most of them, participated in the skit when I asked them questions. The kids all laughed and had fun and I feel like our time at Cooke was very appreciated by the teachers and as well as the students. I enjoyed presenting the skit to the kids because I feel like they took something from the experiences. I would change giving the kids gummie worms until after the show that way they know exactly why we were giving them gummie worms.
I am Madison King and I am currently a junior at First Colonial High School. My dream is to become a high school teacher, and I am in the Virginia Teacher's for Tomorrow class. I cannot wait to be a future teacher. I love to play softball. Part of the reason why I love it is because it takes up most of my time. One of my favorite quotes is "live like you were dying". This quote has significance to me because I live everyday like its my last because ill never know when I will die and I want to live life to it's fullest. I want to build a strong relationship with my students so that they can come to me and feel comfortable with talking to me about anything, sort of like what Mrs. Frierman does with our class.
